National Hatred [of Bettman] League
It’s almost time for the greatest players to return to the greatest league in the greatest sport in the world.
I’m excited.
I know for Blackhawks fans they will be surprised to hear that the team they have been following since 2009 will be turning 90 this year. For the centennial of the MakeMe Laffs there will be an event where they host the 10-year younger (and better looking) Red Wings at a soccer stadium in Toronto.
Anything else to look forward to?
No one will say it because there would have to be a fan on here, but the Devils with Hall will be interesting to watch this year.

All I need is for the Sens to do better than the Jets this year. I lost (well, tied) last year’s hockey bet with my girlfriend, so now I have to wear a Jets toque to a hockey game. This year’s bet is much worse.
GO SENS GO. PLEASE GODS GO.

A CA/EU game before all that, for a start.
And after that, for me, seeing how Babcock’s shakeups play out in TO.

I tried to tune into the game last night, after the 5th-straight minute of ads I watched baseball instead. I have no interest in seeing who wins the contrived tournament, nor subjecting myself to ESPN’s notorious advertising needs.

I still have mixed feelings about supporting Atlanta, considering the team that should be here is still in Phoenix. If they do well I’ll probably hop on the bandwagon, but until then go ‘Nucks!

There’s only one team in the entire NHL I hate more than the Sens and that team’s name rhymes with ‘cryers.’

Yeah, last year the Jets didn’t do great. I mean, the Sens didn’t make it to the playoffs either, but still.
At least I’m not a Leafs fan (please ignore my Mats Sundin jersey and poster in my room).

As a Canadian I have an admitted interest. I watched on cbc.ca, though annoyingly the internet was spotty and I had to refresh the page every few minutes...
It was the closest Canada’s been to defeated since 2010. The Euros were all over them in the 2nd... Price had some work to do last night.
Fingers crossed on them getting their act together for thursday... they’ll need it. Europe has been getting better with every game, and between Kopitar and Halak they’ve got some awesome potential. Kind of the rival I was hoping for the US team to be, frankly. They’ve shown they can. What happened this time... dunno but it was a shocker.

Go Habs! I have my son signed up already for a hockey camp in Montreal next summer. He’s been asking every day this week when we can get a bubble hockey table. Holy crap, are those things expensive!

I wasn’t too shocked by the US crash and burn. The roster was hodge-podge and the play lackluster. Too much reliance on Kane to make offense, which is stupid because he is a finisher, not the entire team. Their transition game had to be the worst of all of the teams. The D didn’t know if it was expected to step up or stretch pass and often just held the puck at the exit of their zone while they tried to decide, and thus lost the puck.
Torts isn’t the worst of coaches, but he is not good in the short-term, low-commitment tournament. Bylsma has shown a better proclivity toward success with that atmosphere.
So in short, the US had its speed sent to the NA-U23 team and then was surprised that power and size wasn’t going to win a short tournament.

Bill Wirtz goes underground (probably far underground if you believe in that kind of thing), and the Hawks blossom. Yay.
Excited to see the Canucks get everyone’s hopes up and then vanish, as has been the case for a year or 45 or so.
Glad that Torts is gone anyway, can’t stand him.

Last season at the Joe for the Red Wings, and I have opening day tickets! Need to buy tickets to the last regular season game as well when the time comes. Will be a sad day to see the old stadium go, but the new one should be awesome......aside from the name.

This is really the only thing I’ll miss if / when I get rid of cable. Need to go the the bar, or find a way to stream them.

The only problem is that the best player in the world now plays in the KHL and not for the Red Wings.

Playstation Vue or NHL App, playstation vue is basically cable over the internet and the NHL App is pretty much the same idea as the baseball app. You select your team and then get to stream the games unless they’re blacked out for national TV broadcasts.

Agreed. I’m trying to find a time to make the trek to the D in January or so (from NJ) to get a game in before the Joe is gone.

I’m a hockey fan, can’t wait for the season to start, but......
I gave no fucks about the WC. Didn’t watch a single minute of it. Only hoped that none of our players (Let’s Go Blues!!!) got injured. It’s hard to root for the ‘Mericans when they have Benedict Backes on their team.
My tickets came in a couple weeks ago. I’m ready for the home opener on the 13th. Road games are going to be a challenge this year, as I cut the cable. I wish Fox Sports Midwest would sell me a streaming package.
I’m looking forward to the Winter Classic @ Busch.
Let’s Go Blues!!!

I live in Toronto.
I look forward (not really) to seeing the Leafs lose and continue the almost-perpetual rebuilding cycle that has been going on since the early 1980s.

Yay, another season when the Capitals likely cruise through the regular season then choke in the playoffs.

If the Capitals could do something other than lose in the 1st round of the playoffs, that would be awesome. And if they could do it while Ovechkin/Backstrom/Holtby are in there prime, that would be preferred as well.

I am looking forward to seeing how the Wild respond to a new coach. They played horrible last year on purpose to get Yeo fired(I personally never liked his coaching style). In Boudreau, they got a coach that is good in the regular season, but falls apart in game 7. I really hope he limits Suter’s minutes on ice and makes him play harder in the time he is on ice.
Alas, I will still watch them even if they go 0-82. Go Wild!
